COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — A woman is facing cruelty to children charges after bruises were found on a child at a preschool in Columbia County.

Investigators say the incident happened at the Foundations Christian Preschool on South Belair Road against a five-year-old. Warrants say Shannon McCune, 27, is accused of grabbing the boy by the arm in a manner which left bruises. Bruises were also found on the boy’s back and shoulders.

The warrants also claim McCune also hit the child with a yardstick and a flagpole on several occasions.

According to the incident report, the child’s mother noticed the bruises on his back while picking him up from school. The child’s mother also claims that his behavior changed since he started school and she believed he was being abused. A deputy corroborated the bruising on the child.

McCune has been granted bond in the total of $35,200. She remains in the Columbia County Jail at this time.
