SILVER SPRING, Md. (ABC7) — A part-time aide at a Silver Spring elementary school is facing multiple charges for the possession and distribution of child pornography.

Cloverly Elementary School Principal Melissa Brunson sent out a letter to parents and guardians Friday saying Maryland State Police officials alerted the school that temporary part-time lunch aide Sean Kelley had been arrested

Brunson says police recovered digital images that were shared and downloaded from the internet. Police do not believe the photos are of any Montgomery County Public Schools students.

Kelley has been placed on administrative leave. Brunson says Kelley is a former employee of Kids After Hours, which is a daycare center housed in Cannon Road Elementary. ABC7 News also learned Kelley is the Junior Church Coordinator at Liberty Grove United Methodist Church in Burtonsville, Maryland. Kelley also lists himself available as a babysitter.

The I-Team first heard word from Cloverly Elementary School sources that Kelley was placed on administrative leave in October pending an investigation into allegations of inappropriate contact with students. Kelley posts video reviews of children’s and family television and movies on a YouTube channel.

“Several weeks ago, attacks were made on me and my character and I learned people had violated the sanctity of my home including my computer and even my car in order to do hateful and harmful things towards me,” said Kelley. “It’s gotten to a point where it seems a large chunk of the rest of the world just hates me right now. And to be clear, this isn’t about me talking about sensitive issues with anyone, or whether I touched someone or not, or helping someone deal with a sensitive thing they were dealing with that was big.”

That video has since been removed from YouTube. Attempts to reach Kelley for comment went unanswered in October. The I-Team told Montgomery County Public Schools and Maryland State Police about the existence of the video and Kelley’s quotes. Both organizations declined to comment at the time.

“These charges are extremely upsetting and distressing. This type of behavior does not reflect the principles of MCPS or our community, and it will not be tolerated,” Cloverly Elementary Principal Brunson said.

School psychologists and counselors will provide support to students on Monday, January 8.
