MIAMI, FL — A female Miami Arts Charter School teacher was charged on Monday with having sex with a teenage student. Valeria Costadoni was charged with lewd/lascivious battery on a child between 12 and 16 years of age and lewd/lascivious battery/sexual activity, according to court documents.
Local 10 reported that the 30-year-old language arts teacher allegedly had consensual sex with the 17-year-old male student over a two-year period on multiple occasions in her home, car, the boy’s home and in a classroom.
The Miami Arts Charter School serves 1,800 culturally and socioeconomically diverse students from communities across Miami-Dade County in grades six through 12. Students are placed into their appropriate achievement levels within one of several major arts departments: Dance, music (instrumental or vocal), creative writing, visual arts, photography and theater.
The school has two campuses: one in Wynwood and the other in Homestead.
