Teacher accused of sexually abusing two students fronts court

A Sydney high school teacher accused of sexually abusing two of her students has appeared in court.

The two teenage boys were studying at Birrong Boys High School in 1997 when they were allegedly assaulted by the then 27 year old Gaye-Lee McKeown.

Police will allege the 16 episodes of aggravated sexual assault and five acts of indecency took place at Picnic Point, Birrong, Panania, Yagoona, Wollongong, Gerroa and Ryde.

Today’s court proceedings were over in a matter of seconds, and McKeown did not enter a plea to any of the 21 charges she is facing.

She wore dark glasses leaving court, and did not respond to questions from waiting media.

McKeown has been suspended from her current teaching position until court proceedings are complete.

The case was adjourned from Bankstown Local Court, and returns before a magistrate at Burwood Local Court on March 14.
