UPDATE @ 7:50 p.m.: The body pulled from the Little Miami River, at the Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve, is that of a male, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Investigators with the Greene County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources are continuing their work to positively identify the male, Chief Colin Altman, Miami Twp. Fire/Rescue Yellow Springs, said earlier today.

That investigation will determine the manner and circumstances of the death. Chief Altman has said it doesn’t appear that the body had been in the water for a long period.

He left open the suggestion that the person could have fallen into the water while hiking.

“People like to come out here in the winter,” he said. “We try to keep everybody from walking in the woods when it’s icy like this.”
