Gabriel Taye was a good student with great smile. He was a eight year old student at Carson Elementary School.
Taye was physically assault by another student as he enters the bathroom. According to the surveillance video from the school, the aggressor was already assaulted other students in the restroom prior to Taye walking in.
It appears that Taye held his hand up for a handshake when the aggressive student grabbed and slammed him against the all. That action leads him to lose consciousness and lay motionless for seven and half minutes before any help came. Numerous students didn’t get help for him as they walked pass and some over his legs. Few adults came to his aid and escorted him to the nurse’s office. The nurse checked him out and contacted his mother about him fainting. She also told Taye’s mother to pick him up and take him to the hospital. The mother wasn’t aware of his injury which was caused by the assault. Taye had symptoms of nausea and stomach pain.
Taye is too young to be suicidal so it raised questions of him being bullying. The medical examiner is revising the death certificate as homicide is the cause of death.
May Gabriel Taye get justice and family get closure for this terrible tragedy. School grounds should be a safe haven for kids learning and socializing with their peers. Bullying should not be condone or overlook by any adult.
