Baby with serious injuries without medical attention for days, Meridian police say

Meridian police said a two-month-old baby with serious injuries did not get medical attentionĀ for several days.

The child’s mother, Indya Powell, 18, was charged with child neglect and desertion. Powell’s bond was set at $100,000. Police did not release details about the baby’s injuries.

Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose said they are working to determine whether this was also a case of child abuse, WTOK reported.

“There may be other charges pending for Ms. Powell and/or charges for other individuals that may have been involved in this particular incident,” Chief Dubose says.
