A teenager was shot in the stomach Wednesday afternoon in the backyard of a vacant household after a neighbor heard a noise and went to look into, police stated.
The teenager, who was not to begin with named by North Miami police, was notify when police and fireplace-rescue arrived, police stated. Police afterwards stated the teenager was in essential problem and rushed into surgery.
“He heard a noise in the backyard and went to look into,” stated North Miami police spokeswoman Natalie Buissereth. “He located two 16-calendar year-olds.” There was a struggle and the neighbor fired a shot.
By Wednesday evening, police arrested the neighbor, Frantz Noel, 47. Noel, a teacher at Van E. Blanton Elementary, was charged with attempted next-diploma murder, fake imprisonment, aggravated assault, discharging a firearm in community, tampering with evidence and armed burglary, police stated. He was being held Thursday in Miami-Dade’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Middle with no bond.
According to a police report, Noel located the teens at about 12:40 p.m. in the backyard at 1520 NW 121st St.
“The defendant accused equally victims of stealing his bicycle and told the victims they could not leave,” an officer wrote in the arrest report. “When the victims attempted to leave, the defendant fired his firearm twice into the floor. “
Police stated Noel also forced a single of the teens to phone a single of his parents to come and get him “or he would shoot” them.
Noel, police stated, then entered a shed exactly where a confrontation took place. Noel opened fireplace, taking pictures the teenager in the left side of his stomach, police stated.
Right after the confrontation, Noel went to his auto, exactly where he put the firearm and casings, in accordance to the report. Meanwhile, the other teenager managed to get absent.
Police, however, caught up with that teenager and questioned Noel.
According to the report, Noel told police he assumed the teens stole his bicycle the working day before and “he felt threatened and was standing his floor.”
“There was no evidence to show the victims were being involved in the theft of the defendant’s bicycle,” police stated.
